Quentin Tarantino is admittedly not the most loved director out there. Of course, critics say, he has shown what he can do in the past, but he has also bitterly disappointed fans. His latest film, though, the war-themed “Inglourious Basterds,” is getting all the good hype – and the first posters to be released for the film just go to add more to the excitement of the fans worldwide.

“Inglourious Basterds” will represent another take on the Nazis and the fight against them. “Once upon a time in occupied France,” as all the posters just released also say, there was a group of men who decided to actively do something against the Germans. Led by the fearless Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt), these men set on a mission to find, kill and scalp as many Nazis as possible, in what will certainly be a very Tarantino-esque cinematic experience.

“Whether bludgeoned, stabbed or shot through the head, Hitler’s henchmen have clearly got a fight on their hands and we have to say that the new art makes us more excited to see ‘Inglourious Basterds’ than ever before. We have to say, truly inspired poster art feels few and far between these days with floating heads and tedious action cutouts proving far too commonplace. It’s good to see a little flair being employed once in a while so props to QT. More, please.” the guys over at Empire Movies have to say about the three brand new posters just released. As it happens, they speak for many.

While Tarantino got his fair share of bashing after “Grindhouse” and “Death Proof” hit theaters worldwide (only true fans would disagree with the massive wave of criticism that came his way), “Inglourious Basterds” will most certainly be his vehicle back in the good graces of the critics. He certainly needs it, because they sort of tend to forget that Tarantino was also the director to bring them such masterpieces as “Kill Bill,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs,” fans are saying on dedicated forums.

“Inglourious Basterds” will drop in August 2009. Until then, go here for the other two posters, enjoy and stay tuned for more details.
