Tara Reid, the 34-year-old star of the “American Pie” fame, has had a few past couple of years that the term “troubled” doesn’t even begin to cover. Things finally seem to be moving in the right direction for the actress though, with concrete plans to relaunch her acting career and a very surprising development on a more personal note as well: Tara will be married this summer, People informs.

If the engagement announcement comes as a shock for Tara’s fans, they shouldn’t feel offended in any way because the star herself had no idea this is where her relationship to Michael Axtmann was heading. The proposal was a surprise, Reid’s spokesperson tells People, but it was a much welcome one. Moreover, the rep adds, the happy couple is already making wedding plans, with hopes that a small, intimate ceremony will be possible this summer.

“Tara Reid and boyfriend Michael Axtmann were having dinner at The Little Door restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night when Axtmann asked for something not on the menu: Reid’s hand in marriage. ‘Michael surprised Tara with a beautiful round brilliant cut ring,’ the actress’ rep tells People exclusively,” People magazine writes in today’s issue.

“‘Tara was so happy, and the other patrons clapped and yelled out, “Congratulations”.’ Reid, 34, and Axtmann, an Internet entrepreneur, began dating last year. They are planning a small wedding for family and friends by this summer,” the publication further informs. Reid’s schedule is now open to start planning for the wedding, the actress having just completed work on “Last Call,” a comedy, and “The Fields,” a psychological thriller.

Tara Reid last made headlines a short while ago, when she posed for a men’s magazine to show how she had fixed her body with the help of plastic surgery. Fans will know that Reid is no stranger to cosmetic surgical procedures, this being the reason her body (abdomen and breasts, in particular) looking worse for wear in the first place.
