“Find as many words as you can as fast as you can,” says Real Latte

A new word game is climbing the iTunes charts fast, aiming for the pole position of the Free Apps section in Apple’s App Store.

Released on August 3, Tap Words has managed to reach the second spot in Free iOS Apps but, at the rate it is zooming past its opponents, it’ll probably take the leading position in a few days.

Its developer, Real Latte, describes the game as “insane.” I’m sure it’s not, but everyone is entitled to their marketing formula. What you can be sure of is that you won’t feel any remorse in case you hate it, since it’s free. Unless you download it over a cellular connection, in which case 12MB can sting a little.

In the game you “race the clock, beat your friends, and beat your own best score. Find as many words as you can as fast as you can,” says Real Latte. “Simple and perfect,” the company adds.

It’s also a bit of a ripoff. There are only like a dozen similar games out there, of which Wordz + springs to mind first. But who cares? It’s free and it certainly looks like a lot of fun.
