For iPhone users that are familiar with the App Store, the Tap Tap Revenge game should definitely ring a bell with them, especially since it is free.

Tap Tap Revenge is similar to Guitar Hero, and other guitar games, and all you need to do is simply to touch the screen while glowing orbs fly pass the beat. If you hit at exactly the right time, you score points. In short, it’s a game that’s fun and easy to play if you like the sound of guitars and are keen to rhythms.

The new version of Revenge seems to be following the “special edition” of Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero Aerosmith. Since the rock band has already been used in Guitar Hero, the Tap Tap Revenged opted for another well-known name among rockers and guitar fans, Nine Inch Nails. The industrial rock band, also known as NIN, straddles a wide range of genres, while retaining a characteristic sound using electronic instruments and processing.

The game contains 16 Nine Inch Nails songs, taken from the last two albums released by the band, The Slip and Ghosts I-IV. Naturally, some of the tracks have been especially edited or remixed for the game. Tap Tap Revenge Nine Inch Nails Special Edition also promises to deliver a NIN look and brand feel so, without a doubt, it will prove to be a must-have for a NIN fan that is also an iPhone user.

A few days ago, Trent Reznor, the main producer, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, and still the only official member of Nine Inch Nails wrote about the game on his blog, but refrained from providing that many details on it. Yet, not long after publishing the announcement on his webpage, the game producers, Tapulous, confirmed it on their website. Spokespersons for the company also said that they were “psyched” to partner with the “true visionaries” of the music industry.

The game will be made available in a few weeks, at a price of 4.99 US dollars.
