Tap Tap Revenge is a music game similar to Harmonix’s Guitar Hero or Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution. A recent update to the second iteration of the title, Tap Tap Revenge 2, now includes support for Push Notifications, making it the first reported iPhone app to benefit from the much-awaited feature.

Tap Tap Revenge 2 is an improved version of Tap Tap Revenge. The new title features a completely new gaming engine with awesome new graphics and effects, for a more immersive 3D experience. On higher levels, developer Gogo Apps has introduced “Tap & Hold” and “Multi-Tap” features that make the game even more fun.

However, an update to the new Tap Tap 2 delivers even more functionality, even when you’re not playing. On Apple’s iTunes App Store, Tap Tap Revenge 2 version 2.6 is listed as “iPhone OS 3.0 Tested.” The changelog also includes an intriguing account – push notifications!

What’s new in this version
– Support for Push Notifications on iPhone OS 3! Tap Tap’s icon on the Springboard will be badged with an unread count for new feed items. SMS-style alerts will arrive when you’re challenged to a game by your friends.

– New interface for sending a challenge to your friends, or creating a Batlle. Choose from a list of Tapulous friends, or send email to others.

Users of MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, and Yahoo! Mail, services known as “push” accounts, should be aware of how the technology works, but let’s make sure everyone is on the same level and explain it by contrast with “fetch.” Basically, when new information is available, such as the arrival of an email message, it is automatically delivered (pushed) to the iPhone. Fetch, on the other hand, requires one's email client to periodically check with their service provider to see if new messages have arrived, and then request them to be delivered. In the case of Tap Tap Revenge 2, push will be used to notify users of new content, or new challenges.

Honestly? Push notifications and new interface is not what gonna save this game from being just "another tap-when-the-colorfull-icon-hits-the-bottons-bellow"...
What's wrong with this people always creating the same game with a diferent group of songs or interface? I don't want to buy another game with the same style just because there're new songs avaliable... that's not far from an expansion, not a new game...
See this game that I bought from app this week: Drums Challenge. Finally some changes in the same old style...In this one the instrument you have to play is a complete drum, with all parts avaliable [and new ones in free style mode], and the system is also new, with the drum in the screen, you have to beat your oponnent by coping his beats in the same timming... That's so much better than the old "wait for the collorfull icon" that I comment....
anyway, it's a good game, really worth it if your tired of the same games over and over...

I think there is a lot of inovative games coming and I think we should take a look at them and try to play all of them. I mean, they really worth. I'm not saying that all these games like Guitar Hero or Beatrider are not good, I just love them but they are always the same and sometimes I get bored of them. I played Tap Tap Revenge 2 and I liked so much, but today I prefer games like Drums Challenge, that I bought these week on Apps. Instead of play guitar I can play the drums and it's different 'cause offers different music styles and a free style competition that is very cool. I always try to look for something more creative like this.
