Spilt Milk Studios and Mastertronic have announced the release of their '80s action-infused title Tango Fiesta on Steam Early Access.

The call has been made and everyone is waiting for a hero to step in and save the day, as Tango Fiesta can now be accessed by players all around the world for the first time.

The game is a top-down cooperative twin stick shooter that supports up to four players in multiplayer. The game's unique setting is every '80s blockbuster aficionado's promised land, a world where every single thing from every single action movie ever made actually happened.

As such, it's up to you and up to three other friends to step in and shoot, blast, slice and do other manly things like rescuing damsels in distress in the fight against every evil that the world has ever known.

Tango Fiesta offers fast-paced arcade action, where you have to choose your hero and spend your cash in the gun shop, acquiring the most expensive and explosive loadout, and then proceed to deliver fiery hell to a wide assortment of antagonists with varying degrees of evil moustache-ness.

"Charge through a shower of bullets, crushing nameless henchmen as you learn the truth behind all those classic flicks... And once the dust settles, do it all again as enemies, bosses and procedurally-generated levels keep the challenge fresh and exciting on every play-through," the official announcement reads.

Tango Fiesta's launch trailer shows the grim world of 1981, where all across the world, evil dictators, aliens and mindless criminals offer our heroes the chance to prove their worth in an explosive hail of bullets and fiery death.

With an expansive arsenal of deadly weaponry and fully destructible scenery, multiple enemy types and two full worlds to blast your way through, Tango Fiesta is setting out to offer a great multiplayer experience inspired by the old days of arcade titles.

"This game means a lot to everyone working on it - more than perhaps you'd normally associate with an over the top arcade action shooter like this - but I mean it when I say it has been and remains a labour of love. I can't wait to see what people think of the game, to hear what the fans want from us over the coming months, and to make Tango Fiesta the game we all know it can be. It's a dream come true for the whole team," said Andrew J Smith, founder of Spilt Milk Studios.
