Matthias Klumpp from the Tanglu development team had the great pleasure of announcing this past weekend the immediate availability for download and testing of the Beta release of the upcoming Tanglu 3 Linux operating system.

Dubbed Chromodoris willani, Tanglu 3 Beta is distributed in the usual flavors, Tanglu KDE, Tanglu GNOME, and Tanglu Core, and includes all the latest GNU/Linux technologies and applications that have been released since the Alpha version of the distribution.

Powered by Linux kernel 4.0, the Beta milestone of Tanglu 3 comes with the latest and greatest GNOME 3.16 desktop environment for the GNOME edition, and the next-generation KDE Plasma 5.3 desktop environment for the KDE flavor.

"We are pleased to announce the beta release of Tanglu 3, which includes Tanglu-KDE, Tanglu-GNOME and Tanglu Core," says Matthias Klumpp. "The beta release contains many updated packages compared to the previous alpha release. It also features a fresh new wallpaper."

The distribution includes all changes from Debian 8 Jessie

Being based on the recently released Debian GNU/Linux 8.0 (Jessie) operating system, the Tanglu 3 Beta distribution comes with all the latest changes from the upstream Debian repositories. Also, the release now includes the latest Calamares Git snapshot distribution-independent installer.

As usual, you can download Tanglu 3 GNOME and Tanglu 3 KDE editions right now via Softpedia or directly from the project's official website. Please keep in mind that this is a pre-release version that contains unresolved issues, so it is not recommended to install it on production machines where stability is of the essence.

The Tanglu development team is always looking for contributors, so if you want to become a Tanglu developer or just want to give the distribution a try and report bugs, you are more than welcome to do so. Please read the official release notes for more details on that.
