CMOS imaging System-on-Chip (iSoC) innovator AltaSens, Inc. today announced that Tandberg, a global leader in visual communication, is deploying the AltaSens ProCamHD 2462 sensor in its PrecisionHD Camera, a flagship of Tandberg's complete line of HD group video systems.

Furthermore, the ProCamHD technology uses proven CMOS imaging System-on-Chip integration in order to deliver an image quality at full HD video rate with low power consumption.

"High-definition video communication in offices and meeting rooms empowers distributed teams to accelerate their decision making," said Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG chief executive officer. "By providing an in-person experience we are changing the way people communicate. AltaSens is helping us to deliver greater productivity to our customers."

The AltaSens 1/3-inch ProCamHD 2462 is, in fact, a 1.3 megapixel sensor that produces progressive 12-bit digital video at 1280 x720 pixels resolution and 75 MHz rate. The result is a video for 720/60p HDV or 50 Hz SXGA cameras.

Ever since it started the mass production, in May 2006,AltaSens' ProCamHD 2462 sensor has been adopted by several leaders in videoconference, camcorder, and camera manufacturing.

AltaSens ProCamHD image sensors are used worldwide in a diverse range of imaging applications delivering lower noise, lower power consumption, higher sensitivity, higher frame rate, and higher dynamic range.

"Quickly leveraging the ProCamHD 2462 sensor enables TANDBERG to extend its leadership position by offering crystal clear HD video in an end-to-end videoconferencing solution. We are extremely pleased to partner with such a video pioneer," added Patrick Quinn, AltaSens Chief Executive Officer.
