According to a profile I found of 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the now-deceased suspect in the Boston Marathon blast was a Muslim and practiced boxing at a local gym.

Tsarnaev did not drink alcohol and worked out regularly at Wai Kru Mixed Martial Arts Center. He described himself as “very religious” and worried about not understanding the American way of thinking.

“I don't have a single American friend, I don't understand them,” he told interviewer Johannes Hirn, adding that he had hopes of being selected for the Olympics.

“There are no values anymore, people can't control themselves,” he said.

He boxed for New England in the National Golden Gloves competition in Salt Lake City and studied in Boston at the Bunker Hill Community College.

Meanwhile, his brother Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev is still at large as officials put Boston on lockdown and stop a train to NYC in search for him.
