Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been buried in a Muslim cemetery in Doswell, Virginia, much to the surprise and discontent of local religious leaders.
“Nobody cared to consult with us or ask us our opinion or anything. It was a total surprise and shock to us,” says Imam Ammar Amonette, speaking for the Islamic Center of Virginia.
According to WTVR, the body was interred in the Al-Barzakh Cemetery, a spot so private and remote that a lot of members of the local Muslim community don't even know about it.
Amonette stresses that the decision was made without their consent, which they would never have granted.
As I reported, authorities had been trying to decide where to bury Tsarnaev for a while now, amid protests and public backlash over allowing the body to stay on US soil.
