The Mars Simulation Project, a free software Java project to create a simulation of future human settlement of Mars, is now at version 3.03. The Mars Simulation Project takes its job very seriously and even if it might look like a game, it's actually a social simulation.
The software is modeling the human behavior of scientists, engineers, doctors, technicians, in their everyday lives, on an alien planet.
Users can choose to start a simple habitat, or they can try and house dozens of people. The settlers will have to maintain the equipment, grow food and manufacture parts for their habitat needs.
Users will also get to explore Mars and they will get their share of accidents, injuries, and deaths, but settlers will be able to survive if they work together.
The latest version of
the Mars Simulation Project, 3.03, is just a maintenance release which focuses on performance improvement, tweaks, and fixing bugs. It also includes a new UI start-up sound.
