City of Heroes, the superhero powered MMO, and its developer Paragon Studios might have a chance to escape their current shutdown date in November, according to some information from those involved.

An admin has posted an in-game message to the players, which reads, “Paragon management is having discussions with NCsoft and investors.”

Then Andy Belford, the community manager, acknowledged that the message was genuine and then asked the gamers which are supporting City of Heroes to keep calm as the discussions play out and their result is clear.

City of Heroes and its City of Villains were the first MMOs to use the superhero theme, opening the way for DC Universe Online and the coming Marvel online game.

The game is now using a free-to-play business model and it seems that the player population has dropped too low in order to further support its development.

City of Heroes was launched in 2004 and the shutdown is set for November 30.
