Earlier today, March 9th, Canonical posted a tweet asking users around the world to participate in this year's Ubuntu User Survey.

The Ubuntu User Survey 2012 will help Canonical build an image of how people really use, share and discover the Ubuntu operating system.

The survey will take only 5 minutes of your precious time, and all the information is totally anonymous; Canonical will not ask for anyone's contact details.

"This survey is to help us understand why people choose and use Ubuntu. We would like to gather existing user preferences from across the globe that will help us to continue to provide an excellent product for free to as many people as we can." - was stated on the survey page.

Take the Ubuntu User Survey 2012 right now, click here! The results will be posted on the Ubuntu blogs.

The survey was too shallow. It also assumed, even though one had stated otherwise, that one used Ubuntu. In order to gain the most information the survey need to investigate why one is not using Ubuntu.

The question regarding if one would purchase a device with Ubuntu pre installed also need a space for clarification, because, for example, I would buy a device with Ubuntu pre installed, and replace Ubuntu with a different Linux OS.

The main thing I dislike about Ubuntu is Unity, and that wasn't asked on the survey. My computer is not a tablet. (OTOH, the same criticisms apply to Gnome3. Gnome2 is far superior...so much so that I'm thinking of installing Mint & Mate).
