Take-Two Interactive Software and Tecmo today announced a European publishing agreement for Trapt, developed by Tecmo for the PlayStation 2. The game will be released on the 24th February 2006.

Set in a highly stylized medieval Europe, players in Trapt take on the role of Queen Allura - a deposed member of royalty who has been framed for the murder of her father, King
Olaf. Together with her handmaiden, Rachel, she escapes into castle-bound exile deep within the Black Forest. Here she encounters a diabolic entity called The Fiend, who possesses her and transforms her into a trap master- an evil temptress who uses deadly traps for revenge against those who killed her father. And so begins a sadistic descent into a world of intricate trap-setting in order to kill those lured within her castle walls.

Trapt features a unique trap system that allows gamers to plan and set both single and combination traps in room after room with devastating effect. From crushing walls, spiked ceilings and a giant falling rock to more exotic death devices like the canon launcher and rotating saws, Trapt provides the tools to ensure that no-one ever gets out alive. In addition, the full map view allows players to manage an entire range of traps in one easy-to-use interface. There are also two unique ways of approaching the game, with each level having its own side story for players to investigate.

"We are extremely excited about the opportunity to extend our relationship with a leading games company like Tecmo," said James Ellingford, International Managing Director of Take-Two Interactive Software. "Trapt is an excellent title and I'm sure gamers across Europe will be impressed with its strategic intricacy and deadly gameplay."
