Strauss Zelnick, the leader of video game publisher Take Two, says that his company has no intention to launch new installments in the Grand theft Auto every year, although it has long-term plans to keep gamers engaged with the franchise.

He tells MCV that, "we launch a title, and often – if not always – put out DLC. We’ve talked about recurrent consumer spending, where we have offerings where fans can engage and spend money on an on-going basis."

GTA V has so far managed to deliver more than 32.5 million copies to gamers and the title continues to move units because of planned downloadable content and because of the Online mode.

Zelnick adds, "70 per cent of people that have played GTA V while online have played GTA Online, which is a free-to-play experience. And recurrent consumer spending related to GTA Online represented nearly half of our digitally delivered revenue in the quarter."

The executive says that gamers continue to use their money to get more GTA-related content and that the company has long-term plans to deliver new experiences.

The Online mode for the newly launched title has had a number of issues when it was first introduced, but it is now running smoothly and the development team at Rockstar offers new jobs for players to experience and is organizing a number of special events.

The company is also planning to deliver a set of development tools to the community in order to allow it to create its own missions and events.

Neither Take Two nor Rockstar has yet offered details on the single-player DLC that they are planning to release for GTA V.

Considering the way the two companies approached the same situation for the previous title in the series, it's likely that it will introduce entirely new characters and situations for gamers to experience.
