Strauss Zelnick, the leader of publisher Take Two, says that his company is currently not interested in the rapidly growing free-to-play market because only a limited number of those involved in it actually pay money for the experiences they enjoy.

He is quoted by Gamasutra as telling an audience at the Credit Suisse 2013 Technology Conference that, “I'm not psyched about a business where 3 percent of your customers pay you, which is what you're dealing with.”

Take Two will apparently continue to focus on creating high-profile and big budget video games that have the potential to spawn millions of retail sales.

The franchises that the publisher focuses on are BioShock, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.

Zelnick says that in the coming years, his company might become interested in free-to-play as long as it can make a clear profit from it, while finding a way to keep the quality level of all its current franchises.
