Samsung rolls out ad to promote new tablet series and makes fun of the Surface

Samsung has rolled out a commercial to promote its new Galaxy Pro series of tablets, and the South Korean company has turned to a strategy previously used by Microsoft to highlight the key features of its devices.

Basically, Samsung is touting its tablet against other similar devices on the market, including Apple’s iPad, Amazon’s Kindle and Microsoft’s very own Surface tablet, obviously claiming that the Galaxy Pro is the best of all.

As far as the Surface is concerned, Samsung claims that Microsoft’s tablet is actually too much of a laptop and can only be used with a mouse and keyboard.

While this isn’t entirely true, given the fact that the Surface also comes with a touch-optimized UI, just like all the other tablets on the market, it somewhat makes sense, because the Modern environment has often been criticized for lacking apps.

What’s more, Mozilla, one of the companies that promised to launch its Firefox browser for the Modern UI, recently decided to abandon the project, citing the lack of adoption of the Metro interface as the main reason.

As a result, Samsung might actually have a point when claiming that the Surface is more of a laptop and less of a tablet, but I’m still not sure that blasting the other devices on the market is the right way to sell your own.
