Take That release brand new video for latest single “When We Were Young”

Fresh off Take That’s EP ‘Progressed’ comes a brand new song: the melancholy “When We Were Young.” A video has just been released on the band’s official website – and you too can see it below, embedded at the end of the article.

The video was shot at Wembley Stadium in London during the band’s Progressed Live tour and, unlike other performance clips, it doesn’t feature an audience, as AceShowbiz also notes.

Instead, the five (Robin Williams, Mark Owen, Jason Orange, Gary Barlow and Howard Donald) are singing to the empty venue, amidst the plastic cups and the mess left by their fans the night before, when they came to see them live onstage.

Shot entirely in black and white, the video shows main vocal lead (on this song) Robbie Williams lying on his back on the floor, while second lead Gary Barlow is sitting in the audience.

The other guys are scattered around, but they too seem overwhelmed by a feeling of melancholy and, to a certain extent, defeat because life has shown them that, contrary to what they believed when they were young, they were not invincible.

Nevertheless, the video ends on a high note, with all of them coming together to take a bow in front of the imaginary audience: after all this, they’re still together.

Even if what they thought of themselves and life in general turned out to be not true, they did not let anything come in between them.

“When We Were Young” was co-written by Barlow and will feature on the soundtrack of “The Three Musketeers,” wherefrom the motivation to make it as impressive as possible by ditching the highly electronic and fake sounds they used on the “Progress” album.

“The film is visually so rich and beautiful that our main challenge was to then match it musically. We’ve returned to guitars, real pianos and a conventional song structure to achieve this,” Gary revealed in a recent interview.

“We also thought that the Musketeers reminded us of ourselves,” he added.

Below is the official video. Enjoy.
