A Taiwanese artist manages to impress by turning mundane materials into amazing works of art using his creativity, imagination and skills.

The photos included below show what Zhongkai Xiang can do with some scraps of cardboard and some skill. To create the paper craft models, the 20-year-old artist uses a paper modeling technique called Pepakura.

He usually creates his own patterns, showing his designer imagination and his great ability to manipulate paper into incredible forms.

“I just drew them at first, then I started to love making paper sculptures in junior high school, and creating with cardboard has been my main focus from senior high school until now,” Zhongkai said, according to Oddity Central.

His first cardboard model was a dragon, but now he has lots of impressive artworks to show. His collection includes cardboard sculptures of horses, aliens, dragons, and birds. He has also recreated Optimus Prime from Transformers, skeletons of the T-Rex, and an Iron Man suit using cardboard as staple.

The life-size Iron Man suit is definitely the pièce de résistance of Zhongkai’s collection. It took one year to complete, but the result is truly amazing and shows people that art can be made out of anything.

“I did not add any special color on the surface. Keeping the cardboard color and texture was deliberate. That’s my style,” Zhongkai explains, referring to the suit.
