He's the third speaker unhappy with RSA statement on the secret NSA contract

Jeffrey Carr, the CEO and founder of cyber security consultancy Taia Global, is the third individual to cancel his talk at the upcoming RSA Conference USA 2014. Carr joins F-Secure CRO Mikko Hypponen and Josh Thomas of Atredis.

They’ve all canceled their talks after news surfaced that RSA made a $10 million (€7.3 million) secret contract with the NSA. The contract allegedly ensured that a flawed algorithm developed by the spy agency would be used in RSA’s BSAFE encryption library.

RSA issued a statement denying the allegations. However, as many others, Carr isn’t happy with the explanation provided by the company.

“RSA has issued the weakest of denials possible on Dec 22nd and hasn't made any attempt to clarify its position since,” Carr argued.

“The company's denial failed to address most of the troubling points raised in Joe Menn's article for Reuters. This on top of RSA's horrible handling of its 2011 SecureID breach has shattered any remaining trust in the company as far as I'm concerned.”

The expert says he will not speak at any RSA conferences and he will not accept RSA sponsorships for any Suits and Spooks events until the company fully addresses this “breach of trust.”
