A deadly plane crash near Lake Tahoe has been captured on camera, as the accident took place immediately after takeoff.

The clip posted above, shot from South Lake Tahoe Airport, shows the Mooney M20C lose altitude as it reaches the treeline.

All of a sudden, you can see the aircraft plummeting, nose first. The video report posted by KCRA TV also includes a photo of the crash scene.

The 40-year aircraft is overturned and completely wrecked. As I mentioned, 67-year-old pilot Steven A. Lefton was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife, Karen survived because a nurse just happened to be walking her dog in the area with her husband.

He used the GPS function on his phone to relay their exact location to authorities and EMTs were at the scene shortly.
