Tablets sold well enough during the first half of 2013 to make some analysts expect that shipments will soon enough become twice as high as those of laptops.

Now, analysts from Digitmes Research have provided their latest update in regard to their expectations for 2013.

According to them, slates will grow in shipments by 17.7% during the second half of the year.

Thus, they will reach 82.07 million, give or take a few thousand units.

The iPad will finally stop dominating the industry, although some may say that it's not really an achievement for the entirety of non-iPad slates to only now overcome Apple's tablet, share-wise.

Anyway, over 50% of all tablets will run Android, of those sold in the second half of the year.

Meanwhile, Android's rising share will take away from that of Windows units, and products with proprietary software like Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets.
