It’s pretty obvious if you look around you for a second. Children these days are attracted to technology like magnets and most of them would love to own or play on a tablet. In all the excitement they seem to have forgotten about the books and other old fashioned ways of entertainment.

But there’s no reason why the two can’t mix. A new study commissioned by LifeProof showcased that most parents (70%) use a tablet like an iPad to read to their children a bedtime story, reports Yahoo.

Moms and dads think tablet reading is more engaging and rewarding due to the additional sound effects and animation clips which make digital story-telling a lot more interactive. Also half of the parents involved in the study said tablet reading is becoming part of their bed night story routine.

Interestingly enough, 10% of parents said tablets were helping their children become smarter. Apparently technology seems to speed up the development process for kids who use it, as opposed to children who grew up without it.

“Bedtime stories are an important part of a child’s routine, and it’s good to see that tablets are bringing these stories to life even further by encouraging creative interaction between parents and their children.

“It’s also great to see how many parents are using their smartphones and tablets as educational tools - and that even the very youngest members of the family have something to gain from using these devices,” said LifeProof.
