It looks like common interests are a thing of myth these days

The world economy hasn't really healed, and probably won't for a while, but that hasn't stopped average prices in some market segments from rising.

Indeed, because of higher interest on the part of consumers, or industrial customers or whoever, ASPs for memory chips, for instance, are moving up.

Now, Digitimes reports that display manufacturers are considering a push as well.

Funnily enough, however, tablet makers have taken to asking, very nicely, that they don't actually do that.

It is a standard conflict of interests. Panel makers want to raise prices as much as possible, anticipating a boost in orders. Meanwhile, tablet vendors need to keep prices low, especially for 7-inch slates, not easy when the LCDs get more expensive.

We all will have to wait and see if that dream of 7-inch $129–169 / €129–169 slates comes true.
