Though on-year changes will be positive, it does not spell great things for the market

Tablets had a pretty good run last year, with so many of them being launched, even though many faded into nothingness and most of the rest got their makers sued.

According to Digitimes, global tablet shipments during the first quarter of this year (2012) will decrease by 30%.

This does leave room for a 77.6% jump on-year, but is still a symptom of general slowdown, even factoring in the issue of the first three months of each year being considered the “slow” season.

The mark will be of roughly 14.97 million slates, 11 million of which will be iPad 2 and iPad 3 units from Apple.

That leaves non-iPad models with 3.97 million, or 50.8% less on-quarter. 1.5 million of those will be Amazon Kindle Fire, while 300,000 will be Nook Tablets.
