It has low specs and an equally low price, though limited availability

Tablets are supposed to be personal handbags containing only information, so Chinese manufacturer L-Y, based in Shenzen, decided to make its device look the part.

The company created a slate which looks precisely like a lady's clutch bag, or a purse or whatever other word people use for that sort of container.

L-Y even did its best to make this thing as cheap as possible, while still meeting a certain, minimum level of performance and feature support.

It didn't actually try to cram too much prowess in it, though, but it did succeed in enabling a decent battery life.

Up to six hours can be squeezed out of a single charge, or 50 hours when left in standby mode.

That said, micdigi, where the newcomer first cropped up, somehow missed the point where it had to say how big the screen was.

Considering the native resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, we assume it is a 7-inch one, and that would also make the Purse Tablet (otherwise known as F8) small enough to be comfortably carried.

Also, the display is an IPS panel, which means that the viewing angles are very wide. Needless to say, touch support is present as well: five fingers can be tracked at the same time.

Moving on, the tablet features the Allwinner A10 processor, whose clock speed is of 1.5 GHz and which is paired with the Mali-400 graphics.

Finally, the Android Market is supported, but not all of the apps there will work on the Purse. Nevertheless, 95% is a good enough proportion.

L-Y was able to load the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system (OS) on the newcomer.

Finally, since no slate is worth a dime without good connectivity, the company tossed in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and even 3G.

The price is a convenient $94 (or the Chinese equivalent anyhow), but most people will have to settle for looking upon the slate longingly without buying it, since availability is restricted to China.
