The iTunes Music Store now has many local incarnations, but while the music part is widespread and
largely available, the video content is still off-limits to everyone except those living in the USA.
Ever since the video content was initially released on the iTMS, users from all over the world have been pining for the possibility of acquiring that content, but have so far not been served. The process is long and difficult as contracts need to be made for each country and already existing contracts for distribution might already be in place complicating things even further.
While there has been no official word from Apple, C21Media has published a report in which they state that NBC plans to test the water with the UK market, using a handful of Sci-Fi series, which they feel are most likely to be popular with the early adopters. The TV show list would include "Surface," "Battlestar Galactica," and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents."
While this is certainly a sign that things are moving in the direction of video content becoming available in the UK, the day it becomes reality is not yet here. It could still be months before all the deals are struck and the user can actually click the buy button.
