14 DAY TRIAL // In a post that highlights her 2013, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts, also admits to having a long time relationship with girlfriend Amber Laign. The 57-year-old TV personality and Laign have been together for 10 years.
Roberts wrote the post as a thank you for everyone who's helped her over the last years and her girlfriend was also listed among those that aided the TV presenter, “I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.”
An ABC spokeswoman confirmed to the media that the two women had been a couple for the past ten years and that Laign was a licensed massage therapist with a private practice specializing in patients recovering from injuries. The two have met through common acquaintances.
Roberts has had a rough couple of years, after being diagnosed with cancer in 2007, which caused her to undergo surgery and chemotherapy. In 2012 she was again dealt another blow, as she was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder that required her to have bone marrow transplant.
The bone marrow donor was her sister Sally Ann, who also gets mentioned in the thank-you post: “I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life.”
It's been revealed that Roberts had already come out to friends and family years ago, but this is the first time she's acknowledged it publicly.
Roberts also added in her post “Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: ‘If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.’”
Then she concludes with “On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too. Wishing you a Healthy and Happy New Year. Peace, love and blessings to all ...”
