ITV has just launched an innovative concept of a news bulletin that broadcasts only for mobile phones. It's like having a TV news channel especially for mobile phones which takes into consideration the characteristics of such devices when transmitting.

ITV has been providing mobile phone video entertainment content for a year now. So far, it has only been offering clips from ITV1's soaps, such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale, TV shows like This Morning and The X Factor, as well as sport broadcasts. All these have been available for customers of mobile telecommunication associated networks known under the name of 3.

What makes ITV's new idea so catchy is that, this time, the news bulletin will be made especially for cell phones, as to live up to the requirements and constraints of such devices. Considering the fact that more than 9 million people watch ITV news daily, the mobile version has high chances of turning up as a success. All that the users need is a 3G enabled mobile phone capable of rendering video formats at high quality.

The video news will be 2 minutes long and will be delivered at 9am and at 5pm. Moreover, in weekends and on bank holidays, ITV will also offer once a day lunch time bulletins.

The mobile TV special news broadcast comes for the price of 2 pounds per week. All the user has to do is send a message containing the words FIX to 88333 and open the link that ITV returns. Furthermore, at any time that the user might want to stop receiving news videos from ITV, all he has to do is send a message with the text "STOP" to the same number.

The service will launch on the 28th of May and will provide full length broadcasts of the main stories of the day.
