TRENDnet has started shipping the ClearLink VoIP USB Phone Adapter TVP-SP5G, a pretty small device that can link your telephone to a computer via USB connection, allowing you to make Voice-over-Internet Protocol calls from your standard phone by using Skype.

So, regardless of what phone you might have, you can simply 'update' it to a Skype phone with this USB adapter.

You can choose between using your usual phone for a standard cell call or a Skype call every time you pick up the phone, thus taking advantage of Skype to Skype calling and subscription plans.

Also, you can continue to use the phone to call regular phone users as well. The ClearLink VoIP USB phone adapter is extremely easy to install and can be used practically anywhere you have a phone and a PC.

It draws power from the USB connection to the computer, so you don't need to go searching around for power sources. If you want to switch between Skype and regular phone calls you can do so by pressing the hot key. Aside from that, the little device is blue and highly affordable, it comes with remote calling feature support and measures 90 x 105 x 30 mm.

"Internet-based telephony solutions such as Skype are becoming increasingly popular," stated Zak Wood, Senior Marketing Manager for TRENDnet. "TRENDnet has created a portfolio of VoIP products that meet the needs of this rapidly growing segment. If you want a brand new VoIP phone we have several feature rich models to choose from. If you just want to use your existing phone to talk over the Internet, the ClearLink VoIP USB Phone Adapter is a solution within reach of most consumers."
