With laptops becoming the majority in the personal computer market, it's clear that computer users are looking for portable solutions that can help them stay connected and get the job done, wherever they are. On that note, TRENDnet has announced today the launch of its new wireless N router, the TEW-654TR, claiming it to be the world's smallest 300Mbps wireless travel router. The new device has been specifically designed for on-the-road users, providing them with an alternative to wired networking solutions.

“We have worked hard to ensure that this ultra compact router offers exceptional performance for its size,” stated Zak Wood, director of global marketing for TRENDnet. “This travel router’s intuitive setup wizard is great for people who are new to networking. As well, it offers features such as Access Point and AP Client Modes that appeal to advanced users.”

TRENDnet's new 300Mbps Wireless N Travel Router is just 2.5 inches wide by 3.25 inches long and 0.75 inches high, which makes it easy to carry around, alongside the user's portable PC. In addition, the company has also included a carrying case, a 3-foot Ethernet cable, power adapter and USB cable for alternative power from the computer, all within the 300Mbps Wireless N Travel Router kit.

The device is featured with a reset button, a power port, a single 10/100Mbps WAN Ethernet port and a LED display that informs the end-user on the status of the router's power and link. Additional features include the support for Access Point and Access Point Client modes, as well as the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology, designed to boost the performance of the device, with increased speeds and wider coverage.

TRENDnet's new wireless router kit for travelers is expected to become available for approximately US$75, according to the company.
