Powerline AV adapters were nice enough when they came out, but a new specification has since been released for them, Powerline AV2, which the new TRENDnet HomePlug use.

The Powerline 500 AV2 Adapter Kit, as the new HomePlug is called, has a PHY rate of 600 Mbps and a networking speed of 500 Mbps.

They should be about twice as fast (real-life performance) as original Powerline 500 adapters.

The kit contains two TPL-408E adapters, but it's possible to install more in a home, if you have free power sockets.

The Gigabit port can work at full throttle or in Power Save mode (80% less energy use).

TRENDnet TPL-408E Powerline 500 AV2 Adapter Kit has a price of $104.99 / €77.23.

A single adapter (in case you want a more expansive network) can be bought for $59.99 / €44.13.
