Home networking specialist TRENDnet launched its first 300Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader, a tool that will transform your old wired router into an 802.11n-ready wireless
device.
The Upgrader connects to the functional, wired or wireless router and upgrades it to a wireless device to support the n draft. Wired routers will be transformed into wireless units, while the already wireless-enabled routers will become compatible with the 802.11n specifications set. It will also offer you up to 12 times the speed and 6 times the coverage of a wireless g network.
Average users find difficult to install new networking gear, and then configure it for maximum throughput and security, but the TRENDnet's 300Mbps Wireless Upgrader is designed to work out-of-the-box. The device cuts the number of installation steps and automates most of these.
"Connecting a computer for the first time to a wireless network can be a time consuming task. Wireless Protected Setup (WPS) technology is designed to automatically setup networked devices at the touch of a button. Simply press the WPS button on the 300Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader and it will automatically detect and integrate wireless network devices that support this technology," claimed a company representative.
The 300Mbps Wireless Upgrader just plugs into a RJ-45 port on the old router, detects the network settings, then intermediates the wireless network traffic between the connected clients and the router. The router will still do the tough job, so it's mandatory that the network setup contains it. TRENDnet's device can reach ideal speeds of up to 300Mbps thanks to the built-in MIMO technology.
"The 300Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader is cute, compact and environmentally friendly. Now you don't have to throw away your old router to enjoy wireless n speeds," stated Brian Chu, Director of Information Technology for TRENDnet. "We have listened to consumer feedback and created a new industry leading installation process that is highly intuitive. We expect the TEW-637AP to gain significant market traction."
