Not one to let the likes of TRENDnet hold a monopoly over the market of fastest powerline adapters, TP-Link has launched its own set.

Called TL-PA8010 AV1000 Gigabit Powerline Adapter, it complies with the AV1000 specification, allowing it to transmit data over the existing electrical wiring of a home or office building at a speed of 200, 500, 600 and 900Mbps.

All you have to do is plug at least two of those things in different power sockets and you're all set, provided they are within 300 meters of each other (984 feet).

128-bit AES encryption is included on both, along with support for Line-Natural/Line-Ground 2x2 MIMO with beam-forming and auto negotiation with other Powerline Adapters.

In layman terms, it means it can work with slower powerline adapters, hence the speeds mentioned above. Sales will start in the second quarter of 2014.
