Fans of the original “Dallas,” arguably one of the most popular series ever to air on television, must already know that a reboot is in the making. Brenda Strong, who plays one of the leading characters, insists in a new interview that the TNT project is not a remake, but a reboot.

In other words, don’t expect to see the exact same plotline and characters as in the original series, Strong says in an interview cited by E! Online.

Instead, the new series aims to pick up the story where the original left off, bring in new characters and thus introduce the legendary “Dallas” to the younger audiences, to those who have probably not even heard of it until recently.

“It’s not a remake. Most people are thinking we’re remaking it. It’s a continuation, it’s the new generation... It’s nice because it’s going to be invented in a very modern way,” Strong says.

This is a point that members of the original cast who have signed for the new series also made in past interviews: the story of the Ewing clan goes on, it doesn’t stop where the final episode of the original show ended.

Speaking of the members of the original cast, Strong says working with the likes of Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray is like a dream come true because she grew up with “Dallas,” though she could only imagine what it would be like to be on it.

“It’s very surreal. I’m talking to Sue Ellen [Gray] and J.R. [Hagman] and I’m going, ‘OK, pinch me. This is very strange’,” the actress shares.

“They were absolutely welcoming. They couldn’t have been kinder, more humble, more hospitable. In those circumstances, you would expect that they would have the right to kind of have ownership and they were so generous and so inclusive,” Strong adds.

In the “Dallas” reboot, Strong will play Ann Ewing, Bobby Ewing’s wife.
