TLC is no stranger to controversy and definitely no stranger to shocking reality television either. The brand new season of its hit series “My Strange Addiction” is the perfect example of that.

As the clip below will confirm, the new season of the show will include one of the strangest, most shocking cases of addiction so far.

Besides that of a man in love with his car (which he considers to be a “he”), the new season will also highlight that of an 18-year-old girl from Sacramento who’s addicted to plastic.

Kailyn goes through plastic as others go through chewing gum when they’re attempting to quit smoking.

She’s only 18 but she’s been ingesting dangerous quantities of plastic in all shapes, forms and textures, for over 11 years.

She believes she “needs” it, obviously.

“I have eaten 12 remotes, over 5,000 beads, over 1,000 cocktail swords, 100 forks, about ten water bottles, two pacifiers, three CD cases, about 50 hangers, about 25 plastic lids on to-go cups...” she says.

Sometimes, Kailyn chooses eating a piece of plastic over eating real food but, at the same time, she’s also aware that what she’s doing can’t possibly do her any good – on the contrary, actually.

“Plastic is something I want and I feel like I need,” she says.

She doesn’t eat it because she likes the taste of it, but rather because she likes its texture and how it crunches in her mouth. She loves the texture of remote controls best.

“I'm a hostess at a restaurant and I get a lot of my plastic from there. My favorite kind of plastics are the little cocktail swords that you get in your drink. On a normal, non-stressful day, it'll be a whole sword, 15 times a day,” Kailyn says.

“The fact that I am eating this much in a week is huge,” she adds.
