TIM and Opera Software announced recently a new partnership through which the latest version of the Opera Mini browser is delivered to mobile phone users in Brazil. According to the duo, the mobile browser is set to offer users an experience similar to the one offered by a PC browsing solution, as the Web pages will be displayed as they would on a desktop computer.

“We are proud to bring Opera Mini 5 to Brazil, together with the world launch. This announcement shows how we are always looking for the best experience that the Web can offer to our users. The future of the mobile Web, for TIM, is the mobile phone. We understand that our part in digital inclusion is mainly through mobile phones, and we bet on it,” said Rogerio Takayanagi, Marketing director, TIM.

The mobile browser from Opera Software does not offer only a user-friendly interface or features like the zooming of Web pages on the mobile phone, but delivers a series of other advantages too, including a faster browsing experience. Those who are interested in downloading and installing the Opera Mini on their handsets can do so for free via the TIM WAP Portal. All they need is a device that comes with support for Java applications and data transmission.

This is the second time TIM brings Opera Mini to its users. The carrier had the browser installed on two devices launched last year, helping the usage of Opera Mini grow significantly in the country. “TIM has taken on a real commitment to make the Web an important part of its platform,” said Roy Satterthwaite, senior VP Americas, Opera Software. “The Opera Mini 5 browser will help users to have a better Internet experience, giving them tools and features that are second to none.”

Moreover, the wireless carrier notes that the launch of Opera Mini for its customers is meant to stimulate the use of Internet on mobile phones. The operator delivers some of the most affordable data plans in the market, including a 24 Internet Package for pay-as-you-go customers, available for only R$ 2,90, which includes 40 MB, or a 100MB data plan available for post-paid customers for R$ 9,90 per month. Other options are also available.
