THQ has announced that it will be publishing two of the four downloadable titles Double Fine, the studio behind last year's Brütal Legend, is working on. The first of these is called Costume Quest and it is an adventure role playing game.

According to 1up.com, the partnership between Double Fine and THQ includes Costume Quest and another unannounced third person adventure title.

“We wanted to make a big impression with these, our first downloadable games ever,” said Tim Schafer, the chief executive officer of Double Fine. “So we are coming out swinging with two great adventures from two of the most creative minds in the company.”

“We are delighted to work with the creative genius of Tim Schafer and the entire Double Fine studio,” said Martin Good, executive vice president of THQ Kids, Family, Casual Games, and Global Online Services.

“Delivering high-quality content across a variety of digital distribution platforms is an important growth initiative for us, and we are pleased to do so with two titles whose potential appeal could encompass both hardcore and casual players,” he added.

Costume Quest is set in a Halloween night and allows players to fill in the shoes of children who go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. They manage to collect various items like, candy, points, cards, battles stamps, but also are given different quests.

The candy and battle stamps serve as power-ups for the Combat Mode, where the children become the characters they are impersonating and receive their superpowers.

The kids will get the chance to fight with evil creatures in the suburban area where they live, as well as in the neighboring shopping malls and carnivals.

Costume Quest was created by Tasha Harris, the lead animator of Double Fine and will be launched sometime at the beginning of 2011. No platforms have been specified yet.
