THQ Buys Paradigm Studios and Stuntman Franchise

THQ has bought Paradigm Studios and in-development sequel Stuntman 2 from Atari for an undisclosed sum.
Stuntman was originally developed by UK developer Reflections, the outfit responsible for the Driver series.

Struggling Atari recently also sold the rights to Sabre Interactive's Xbox title Timeshift.
The publisher said in a statement today that offering Stuntman and Timeshift from its roster had raised USD 13 million, but made no comment on cash raised from the Paradigm sale.

THQ issued a press release on the matter today saying it had acquired Stuntman 2 and "exercised" rights to buy Paradigm. It expects the deal to close in the "coming weeks".

"The concept of pulling off the incredible driving feats of Hollywood stuntmen is a natural fit for action and racing game fans alike," said Kelly Flock, THQ executive vice president of worldwide publishing.
"Stuntman is a great complement to our growing stable of original content targeting the core gamer on next-generation systems."
