The Australian Classifications Board, a body that is tasked with rating all titles that video game publishers aim to launch on the continent, has revealed the existence of another Warhammer 40,000 title that is under development at THQ, called Kill Team.

The Classifications Board has a long record of revealing information about unannounced titles.

The new game is listed as being multiplatform and has received a M15 rating when the body evaluated it on May 27, meaning that it will be aimed at mature audiences.

The name Kill Team is used in the Warhammer 40,000 universe for a specialized unit of Space Marines that is bound to take out a high value target, usually a very capable xenos enemy that poses a particular threat to mankind.

The Kill Team can use the resources of other branches of the Imperium, usually the Inquisition and the various Imperial Guard regiments, in order to complete their mission.

It's not clear whether this is a full new game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, set to be officially announced soon and coming at some point during 2012, or whether it's a small game that will serve to promote the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

Publisher THQ has used smaller gaming experiences, like Red Faction: Battlegrounds, to promote the big new release in the series.

At the moment, Space Marine has a launch date for September and will be playable on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC.

The game will allow players to take on the role of a Space Marine captain of the Ultramarines chapter who is tasked with defending an all important Forge World from an assault from the Orks.

The game will be played from a third-person perspective and will not use a cover system, allowing gamers to see the full power of a Space Marine.

THQ is also working on a Warhammer 40,000 powered MMO, but it's not clear when it is launched.
