THQ Brings Big Beach Sports to the Wii

- Volleyball, soccer and anything you want to play on the beach comes this summer

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

You can do almost anything you could think of (and it is legal for under 18 people to do) on the Nintendo Wii, so it's not a big surprise that now we will be able to play a series of Beach
Sport-based games thanks to THQ. Hopefully they will have the guts or whatever it is needed to bring a DoA: Xtreme Volleyball-like game. If they do something like that, I will instantly become a hardcore Wii fanboy. But I have the feeling that we'll get some Wii Tennis lookalike characters instead...

Anyway, since we can still dream for better things, let's enjoy the DoA screenshot in the upper left corner and find out a few more details about Big Beach Sports. First of all, it will be a Wii exclusive to be released sometime during this summer. We will be able to compete in a series of beach sports, including American football, volleyball, soccer, cricket, disc golf and bocce right on the beach. And, except for the volleyball game, which is already taken, none of these sports can be easily related to semi-naked chicks. Unfortunately.

The good thing is that kids will be able to play it worries free and probably learn a thing or two about some sports they knew nothing about before. And, who knows, maybe they will go and try the real deal (eventually while we play a DoA game). No, I don't have a naked-chick obsession.

"Big Beach Sports drops players into a seaside resort setting with a wide variety of compelling outdoor sports to play and master," said Randy Shoemaker, director, global brand management, THQ. "Sports including bocce, cricket and disc golf are making their Wii debuts and combined with the inclusion of more traditional games like soccer, American football and volleyball, Big Beach Sports will be an appealing title for the growing audience of Wii gamers."

Great news. I'll go play DoA now.
