Today, at their CEATAC booth in Japan,
Toshiba Matsushita has displayed the latest fashion in display technology: the 0.99 mm TFT-LCD prototype. This announcement comes after less than a week after LG has announced "the slimmest TFT" module, which had a thickness of only 1.3 mm. It seems this wasn't slim enough for Toshiba, and they managed to shrink it down even more.

The new anorexic display will come with a 240x320 QVGA resolution and will still provide the 2 inch diagonal that is so fashionable these days. With a weight of 3.5 grams, this display will probably reduce the weight of the mobile phone that will have it, instead of raising it.

Its manufacturer is planning to deliver samples of this new product to the customers in April 2007, and we will most surely be seeing it implemented in the mobile phones that will be launched in the first quarter of the next year.
