Canadian wireless carrier Telus has just unveiled plans to bring the Android 3.0 Honeycomb-based Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi in the country in the near future, with a price tag of $599.99 attached to it.

Motorola already announced plans to have the new device available for users in Canada starting with April, and TELUS would be among the operators there to add it to its offering.

The new device arrives in Canada with the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system on board, support for a wide range of Google Mobile services, such as Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction, Search, YouTube, Gmail, and more.

Moreover, the tablet PC would offer support for a wide range of applications available for download via the Android Market.

“This latest version of Android also takes advantage of the larger screens and the power of tablets to introduce features such as tabbed browsing, visual bookmarks, interactive 3D user interfaces and true multitasking,” the wireless carrier notes.

The new Motorola XOOM arrives on shelves at TELUS with a 10.1" HD display that boasts a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, as well as with Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, HDMI port, as well as with a a 5-megapixel rear-facing photo snapper and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The new device also includes a dual-core application processor, as well as 1GB of RAM, 32GB on-board memory, and support for HD gaming, videos and web browsing.

“We are thrilled to bring the first Android 3.0 powered tablet to Canadians. Almost by the month, Canadians are doing more through multiple 'screens' which tablets and smartphones provide. They're a dashboard for our busy lives and on-the-go entertainment needs,” said David Fuller, Chief Marketing Officer at TELUS.

“Durable, powerful and versatile, the Motorola DEFY is the perfect complement to the powerhouse MOTOROLA XOOM and a sure-fire solution for keeping users connected no matter where they are. Stay tuned for pricing and availability of the Motorola DEFY at TELUS,” the wireless carrier concluded.
