Canadian carrier TELUS and Rdio, a company created by Skype founders, have just announced that they have teamed up to offer TELUS customers the option to subscribe to Rdio, an unlimited, on-demand social music service, via their existing TELUS accounts

It appears that Rdio is the first service in Canada to bring social music discovery to mobile devices, by providing customers with instant access to a huge catalog of almost 9 million songs.

In addition, TELUS customers will be provided with direct carrier billing to make it more secure, convenient and easy way to subscribe to Rdio and to access and share their music on the go.

Those who wish to subscribe to the new music service will have to pay a $10 monthly fee to be able to play any song, album, artist and playlist as many times as they like. According to Rdio, the music service doesn't feature any ads.

TELUS is focused on curating the best Internet-based services for our mobile customers by partnering with innovative service providers who are leading on the global stage,” said Brent Johnston, vice-president of mobility solutions at TELUS.

Furthermore, users have access to new albums the same day they are released, but they can also access old favorites and follow friends and other people with similar musical tastes.

Rdio music service features seamless social network integration with Facebook and Twitter, which allows users to easily share their favorite songs, albums and playlists with friends.

We want to deliver a superior customer experience by making it easy for our customers to enjoy the best of what brands like Rdio have to offer and empower them to choose the services that are right for them,” concluded Johnston.

Rdio music service is fully compatible with PC and Mac computers, tablets, as well as smartphones, including iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7.
