As expected, TELUS and Motorola Mobility have just announced the upcoming availability of the MOTOKEY SOCIAL Facebook-centric phone. Customers who are into social networking can purchase this one starting November 21 for $89.99 (65 EUR) on prepaid.

Motorola's MOTOKEY SOCIAL is a cheap alternative for those who are looking to buy a Facebook-oriented phone, but cannot afford to purchase a smartphone.

The MOTOKEY SOCIAL is a basic feature-phone that provides users quick access to Facebook, so they can share and connect with family and friends.

The handset offers the advantages of a physical portrait QWERTY keyboard, allowing for fast and accurate texting, as well as a comfortable and intuitive touchscreen for easier navigation.

Aside its full QWERTY keyboard, the socially savvy MOTOKEY SOCIAL sports a 3-megapixel camera on the back that feature video recording capabilities.

We understand the importance of smartphone-like features on competitively priced devices. MOTOKEY SOCIAL offers both practical and fun features that suit your everyday lifestyle, and its dedicated Facebook key keeps you connected to your social circles,” said Carly Biggart, national account manager, Motorola Mobility Canada.

The 2.4-inch touchscreen display supports 262k colors and 320 x 240 pixels resolution. At less than 10mm thin, the sleek handset fits perfectly into any pocket or purse.

On the inside, the MOTOKEY SOCIAL packs 50 MB of internal memory, 128 MB of ROM, 64 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

In addition, the device is equipped with Bluetooth, Stereo FM radio with RDS and 3.5m earphone jack for high quality audio.

Software-wise, the phone comes with five different home screens, two interface themes, as well as default links to Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networking sites. An email service and Opera Mini browser are pre-loaded as well.

The phone's 910 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 672 hours of standby time or up to 8 hours of talk time.
