It looks like Canadian carrier TELUS is fairly determined to remove lots of the taxes and fees it currently asks to its customers.

Although some of these fees haven’t been removed yet, TELUS is making sure they’re as low as possible in order to expand its customer database.

Shortly after removing the activation and equipment exchange (renewal) fees completely, TELUS announces the device unlock fee is now $35 CAD.

Those unfamiliar with TELUS’ fees should know that the Canadian carrier used to ask customers to pay a $50 CAD fee in order to have their devices unlocked.

Starting today, TELUS customers who wish to unlock their phones so they can use it with other carriers from anywhere in the world will be charged a $35 fee.

It will be interesting to see if other Canadian operators will make similar moves, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
