Canadian carrier TELUS has just confirmed it will offer the HTC Windows Phone 8X at some point. The smartphone has already been launched in Canada and is now available for purchase via Bell and Rogers operators.

Both carriers offer the 16GB HTC 8X, but Rogers exclusively offers the 8GB model as well. Until today, TELUS was the only major carrier that did not say a word on whether or not it will bring the HTC 8X to its customers.

Well, it looks like the operator has just confirmed via Twitter the upcoming availability of the smartphone, though it has also stated there is no release date scheduled yet: “We will be carrying it. Unfortunately I don't have a date. Keep an eye on http://www.telusmobility.com info.”

Aside from bringing the good news to its customers, TELUS did not offer additional details like which version of HTC 8X will be available or in what colors. We’re also expecting more info on the phone’s availability and pricing options.

HTC 8X (16GB) is now available for purchase at Rogers for as low as $100/€80 with a new three-year agreement, or for $550/€430 on month-to-month plan. Check it out here.

The best Windows Phone 8 device launched by the Taiwanese handset maker, HTC 8X is equipped with a hyper-vibrant 4.3-inch Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone packs a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz built on Krait architecture, an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

The 8X embeds 16GB of internal memory, along with 7GB of free cloud storage via SkyDrive. Unfortunately, the device lacks microSD card slot for memory expansion.

It also boasts an impressive 8-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. A secondary 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls is available as well.

UPDATE: Bad news for those expecting the phone to arrive at TELUS as the carrier announced it won't launch the smartphone after all:

“TELUS will not be carrying the HTC 8X. TELUS will however, be offering the HTC One X+ coming out this month. We work closely with our partners on a roadmap of devices that evolves on an ongoing basis and our commitment is to offer our clients the best selection of devices possible.”
