The software engineers maintaining TED Conferences’ highly informative iOS application have updated the TED app to make it universal, suitable both for the iPad, and for the iPhone’s small, 3.5-inch screen.

TED fans will agree that the iPad version of the application provides a wealth of valuable human knowledge in the most attractive form possible - video talks by amazing people from all over the globe.

Now, all of this is available on the iPhone and iPod touch via a newly optimized TED application that puts this entire pool of knowledge at your fingertips.

“Riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world,” said the people at TED Conferences. “TED's official app presents talks from some of the world's most fascinating people: education radicals, tech geniuses, medical mavericks, business gurus and music legends. Find more than 900 TEDTalk videos (with more added each week) on the official TED app -- now for both iPad and iPhone.”

According to the description for iPhone and iPod touch (from the iTunes App Store), the entire library is available for browsing and searching in both online and offline modes, and users can bookmark or download their favorite talks for later playback.

The app is AirPlay enabled and there’s a new feature called TEDRadio which lets you tune in for instant, one-click access to a continuous stream of TEDTalks. This one’s audio only.

Finally, the app features social ties with buttons for sharing favorite talks and playlists with your friends on Twitter, Facebook and more.

Needless to point out, the iPad app offers much more. If you own both iDevices, I strongly recommend to keep the TED app on both iPad and iPhone. It requires iOS 3.2 and you can grab it via the link below right now.
