Here come the SDG4A-series solid-state drives in all their glory

SandForce, Indilinx and Marvell are the SSD controller chip makers I've seen most often in press releases, but there are some companies that use their own chips.

TDK has just joined their ranks, by introducing the SDG4A-series solid-state drives based on the GDDriver RS4 controller.

Made for industrial applications, the 2.5-inch SSDs have 64 GB to 512 GB capacities, 128-bit encryption, and speeds of 180 MB/s read / 130 MB/s write (no DRAM or other type of cache).

They use eMLC NAND Flash memory chips (enhanced reliability and higher write cycle number).

The static wear leveling algorithm is the most sophisticated feature though, averaging the write and erase process over all blocks of the memory area, thus improving lifespan of flash memory a great deal.

Sales should begin soon, but interested corporations will have to contact and negotiate prices with TDK themselves.
