The Android-powered T-Mobile myTouch 3G, also known as the HTC Magic, the second mobile phone to run under Google's operating system, is rumored to finally see the light of day before the end of June. According to Tmonews, the info on the near launch date of the device comes from a trusted source.

The news site says there are a series of reasons that, in a way, sustain the upcoming availability of the device, including the new tip and the recent statements from T-Mobile, according to which it will release into the wild more Android-based mobile phones (T-mobile CTO Cole Brodman stated recently that G1's successor would come in early summer).

In addition, it seems that the carrier might try to push out on the market the T-Mobile myTouch 3G handset due to the launch of other high-end devices, including the Palm Pre, which went live with Sprint this weekend, and the iPhone 3G S, which was announced on Monday to come before the end of the month (on June 19, AT&T is reported to have said).

These two handsets have enough power to attract users on their side, which would mean that T-Mobile might lose a lot of market share if it does not make the move faster. The upcoming myTouch 3G will be able to see some traction on the market, and has enough potential to determine users to choose the Android platform and T-Mobile as a carrier.

In addition, the handset is also expected to come in three color schemes. While two of them have already been spotted with the predecessor, white and black, it seems that the third one, called “merlot,” will be some sort of dark red. According to Engadget, the handset should hit the stores on August 5, yet the Tmonews report seems to attract us more, for a June release makes better sense, especially since the Magic has been available in Europe for more than a month already.
